The Pars Equality Center/Moghadam Research Scholarship Fund for Iranian Students at Stanford and MIT
This scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Hamid Moghadam’s late mother, Mrs. Houri Mostofi Moghadam, and Hamid Moghadam’s late sister, Mrs. Mariam Moghadam Safinia.
The Pars Equality Center, in collaboration with the generous support of Hamid and Christina Moghadam, is proud to offer a scholarship opportunity to Iranian/Iranian-American students currently enrolled at Stanford University and MIT. This scholarship provides financial assistance to support academic projects and alleviate educational expenses. Eligible students have the opportunity to apply for grants of up to $5,000, with recipient selection overseen by the Pars Equality Center.
Eligibility
- Applicants must have Iranian descent.
- Students must maintain enrollment at Stanford or MIT.
- This grant opportunity is inclusive of students from various disciplines whose research is connected to Iran or the Iranian diaspora. Whether you are studying politics, history, culture, sociology, engineering, or any other field with a relevant focus, you are encouraged to apply for this grant to support your research efforts. This opportunity seeks to deepen our understanding of Iran and its diverse diaspora communities, transcending academic boundaries. Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for funding.

- Proposal (1-2 pages): Describe the project’s nature, its relevance to the study of Iran and Iranian Diaspora, and its significance for the student’s research and academic development. Include an estimated budget outline for the proposed activity.

Expenses
The grant can be used for various expenses, including living costs for off-campus research or training; the procurement of research materials; research-related services (e.g., duplication costs, production of questionnaires/surveys, human subject costs, data entry, transcribing interviews, running focus groups); and expenses related to training (e.g., tuition, registration fees, tutoring costs). Requests should be for expenses not covered by other funding sources. While applicants may concurrently apply for other funding sources, they cannot accept multiple funding sources for the same expenses. The itemized budget should transparently list confirmed and/or pending funding source.
Requirements
Recipients are expected to submit a 1-2 page report upon the completion of their project, detailing its development, acquired insights, and next steps in their research project and career. Those who utilize the grant for language training should provide a transcript or training completion certificate.
